H. Peabody Flagg Oil Painting "Early Morning"

An oil painting on canvas titled Early Morning by listed American artist Hiram Peabody Flagg (1859-1937). This piece depicts a shepherd and his flock in an open field near a small copse of trees and a small village with a windmill. The shepherd watches over the sheep as they graze beneath a blue sky scattered with white clouds. The piece is signed to the lower left and dated ‘1919’, as well as signed and titled to the verso. A wood placard to the lower center of the frame states the title and artist of the work. It is presented in an ornately molded, gold tone frame with a linen liner and wire to the verso for hanging.
Condition
- to Fair; some dirt in the image area; stretcher marks; linen liner has some dirt and stains; edge wear to frame.
