Chinese Meiping 'Plum' Vase

A Chinese Meiping or ‘plum’ vase. (梅瓶) The word Meiping can be translated as “plum vase”, and was believed to be the perfect shape for holding a plum branch. This vase is blue and white with swirling designs. The has has a narrow mouth, short neck on broad shoulders and a tall body tapering off to a round foot. The underside is marked with a Qianlong reign mark, however, the piece was likely produced in the Republic period (1912-1949) or later in the 20th century.

Some dirt and discoloration.
