A pair of books titled The Yearling and Cross Creek by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings. The copy of Cross Creek was published by Charles Scribner’s Sons, 1942. The “A” is present on the copyright page, however, the Scribner’s seal is not present. There is debate among scholars as to which printing of the first edition this indicates. Some believe that a copyright page with just an “A” is the first printing, others aver that the first printing should have the Scribner’s seal. The book is presented with its dust cover. Also included in this group is a first year edition of The Yearling also by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings. The book, published by Charles Scribner’s Sons of New York in 1938. This novel was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1939 and made into a movie by MGM in 1946. Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings was an American born in 1896 and she died in 1953.
