Item Details
A pair of vintage Alva Museum Replicas of the NYC Public Library lions bookends. These beige composite made pieces were made by the Alva Museum Replicas, Inc. in NY from 1948 to 1990 by Alfred Wolkenberg who had immigrated from Austria. These are reproduced after the original marble lions by Edward Clark Potter (American, 1857-1923) which flank the NYC Main Public Library’s steps in mid-Manhattan. They were put in place in 1911 and have the nicknames of ‘Patience’ and ‘Fortitude.’
