Fred Miller Hand Colored Engraving After Valentine Davis's "Lords of the Mere"

A circa 1888 hand-colored engraving on paper by artist Fred Miller titled Lords of the Mere. The piece, created after a painting by listed English artist Valentine Davis (1854 – 1930), depicts a peaceful lake landscape with two mute swans to the foreground, as daylight breaks majestically over a distant farm to the background. The work is titled to the lower center with in-plate notations of ‘Engraved by Fred Miller’, ‘Painted by Val Davis’ and ‘London, Published Nov. 24th 1888 by Harry Dickins’ to the lower margin. It is presented unframed.

- edge and corner wear; some toning to paper; print is unframed.
