Boris Riab Pair of Lithograph Prints on Paper of Hunting Dogs

Item Details

A pair of lithograph prints with intaglio embellishments on paper of hunting dogs by listed artist Boris Riab (Russia, United States; 1898–1975). Depicted are two English Pointers making their way across a field and tracking something nearby. The second depicts an English Setter chasing a trio of mallard ducks that appear to have gotten away. Signed by the artist in graphite to the lower left corner. Presented as a loose work without a frame or mat.

Boris Riab studied at several art schools in Moscow until his family fled Russia after the Bolshevik Party gained power. In 1927, he changed his last name from Riabouchinsky to Riab and settled in France. Riab mostly painted watercolors of hunting dog portraits and wild fowl, but he also printed limited edition engravings of several studies.
