Hand-Knotted Persian Zanjan Area Rug

A semi-antique Persian Zanjan area rug. This wool rug is hand-knotted in a palette of cocoa, cream, teal, and pink. It begins with a spoked star medallion grounded in cocoa and cream. The medallion rests on a cocoa-colored herati field with cream-colored spandrels. Framing the field are compound borders, including three meandering floral borders grounded in cocoa or cream. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short cotton warp fringe. It is labeled on the reverse.
