Hand Knotted Semi-Antique Lilihan Area Rug

A hand knotted semi-antique Lilihan area rug. The wool and cotton rug features a center pendant medallion in pale blue, taupe, mocha and chocolate browns with indigo. Surrounding the medallion are floral sprays resting on an abrashed scarlet field. The ends of the field repeat this pattern in the same colors, in large sprays of flowers with lancet leaves. The spandrels are layered in the field colors with contrasting white and chocolate brown. THe guard borders feature the brown color with smaller floral and foliate elements, framing a white primary border with racemes of flower heads. The rug have overcast edges and natural cotton warp fringe. It is labeled ‘Made in Iran’.
