Circa 1949 Alexander Finta Cast Bronze Bas Relief Wall Sculpture

A bronze bas relief wall hanging by listed Hungarian-born American artist Alexander Finta (1881-1958). As part of his training, Finta studied under Auguste Rodin before relocating to New York in the 1920s. He is most known for his bronze busts and worked at 20th Century Fox until his death. This piece depicts side portraits of a man and woman. It is marked ‘XL YEARS MCMXLIX’ (1949) and ‘CLARENCE J. ALBAUGH LENA’ to the lower margin. The piece is signed ‘A. Finta’ to the upper left corner. It is mounted against a dark wooden slab with a mounting wire to the verso.
