Hand-Knotted Persian Kashan Area Rug
Item Details
A semi-antique hand-knotted Kashan area rug, attributed to the Shadsar workshop, but no clear attribution could be confirmed. This Persian wool rug features a crisp curvilinear design beginning with a central medallion in cream and cobalt on a deep red field. The field is populated with palmette, foliate, and floral arabesques with the patterns continuing into cobalt and cream spandrels. The primary border is cobalt with a herati pattern throughout. The rug has overcast edges and finishes at either end with short, natural wool warp fringe. It is not marked.
