Vietnamese Water Puppet

Item Details

A Vietnamese water puppet (Múa rối nước). The tradition of these puppets can be dated back to the 11th century. This puppet is the depiction of a man holding a wicker fan. There does not appear to be a maker’s mark on the puppet.

Condition

- wear to paint; crack in base; several cracks on back side including large one on back of head.
