Victor M. Vigil Carved Soapstone Sculpture

A hand carved soapstone sculpture by Victor M. Vigil of the heads of two men and an eagle. The reddish stone sculpture depicts two men’s heads looking out from under a blanket form that morphs into the body and head of an eagle. It is signed and dated ‘Victor M. Vigil 2001’ to the lower back and mounted in a polished wood block. Victor Vigil is a member of the Jemez Pueblo in New Mexico.

Condition

- the tip of the nose of the upper figure is broken off.
