A 1952 oil painting on canvas by listed German artist Alois Biebl (20th century). The piece depicts a quaint chalet nestled along a river set in a serene Bavarian Alpine summer landscape. The work is signed ‘Alois Biebl, München, 1952’ in cream paint to the lower left. It is presented without glass in a gold tone wooden frame with decorative textured gesso embellishments to the front and hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- abrasions to canvas at edges, with stretcher marks and areas of paint loss; yellowing to varnish; chips, wear, cracks and staining to frame; staining and foxing to canvas verso; frame joints are not fully flush; no backing paper present.
