Item Details
In Plate
An unframed Shirley Mason/Marcia offset lithograph print, titled Interpretation of Falkirk Forests and attributed to Marcia, an alternate-self of Shirley Mason, also known for her pseudonym “Sybil”, date unknown. Identified by the name “Marcia”, which was glued to the original painting and not written directly on it, this was important as Shirley Mason did not recognize it from her own studio, but being created by an alternate-self. The reproduction depicts a view of Falkirk Forest in New York, painted while Ms. Mason was an art therapist at the Falkirk Institute, a mental hospital bordering the forest. The dream-like forest is comprised of gradient gray stark forest trees against hues of blue and purple gouache. The signature is attached to the lower right corner.
