Colored Lithograph "Independent Order of Odd Fellows"

A colored lithograph on canvas depicting a crest from the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, a fraternal organization founded in 1819 in Baltimore, Maryland. This lithograph depicts an oval vignette of a chain with three links, a hand holding a photograph over the bible with a place holder reading ‘Our Guide,’ and a ribbon draped across the hand reading ‘Visit the sick, relieve the distressed, bury the dead, educate the orphans.’ Above this scene is a floating eye with rays of light emanating from it. The scene is encircled by a black border with gold tone symbols throughout, and the bottom of the border reads ‘Our Motto.’ The bottom of the border is also marked ‘J.W. Borrington, Copyrighted 1883,’ and ‘Lith. by Buek & Linder, N.Y.,’ and ‘Published by Fitchburg Chromo Co. Fitchburg, Mass.’ This print is housed in a simple wooden frame with a white mat board.
