A repurposed antique Nathan Neat trunk. The wood trunk has a cylindrical shape with a hinged lid. The trunk retain the original label affixed to the interior lid. It reads ‘Nathan Neat, Saddle, Cap and Trunk Maker No 4 Elm Street, Boston, Opposite Riley’s Tavern Keeps Constantly For Sale Saddles, Bridles, Harness, Trunks, Military Accoutrements, Traveling Portmainteaus, Etc., and Every Other Article in His Line of Business’ and under the border of the label reads ‘Henry Emmons, Painter 745 Washington Street’. The interior lid retains the original hand painted blue polka-dot paper. The exterior and interior body have been repurposed with mid century modern style burlap, contact paper and nailhead trim. There is a lock on the front, but no key is included. Nathan Neat’s company was located in Boston where they produced high quality hide covered trunks from 1825-1891.
