Samuel Kirk & Son and Other Mid-19th Century American Coin Silver Spoons

Item Details

A collection of coin silver spoons. This includes a tablespoon with pointed shoulders and a tipped exaggerated fiddle handle by Samuel Kirk & Son of Baltimore (1846-1861), and a berry spoon with a scalloped shell bowl and a tipped broad fiddle handle by James R. Reed of Pittsburgh (circa 1840-1860). There are also five spoons with round shoulders and tipped broad handles by Canfield Bro & Co. of Baltimore (circa 1850). Each is stamped on verso with a maker’s mark in a rectangular cartouche. The total approximate weight is 5.31 ozt.

Condition

- some overall surface wear including markings and tarnishing; each piece is monogrammed.
