An original acrylic painting on paper by Richard Guy (20th & 21st century). This portrait work depicts Ulysses S. Grant leaning next to a bare tree with a chair and tent in the scene. The piece is signed to the lower right corner. It is presented behind an off-white mat with a grey liner, under glass in a wood frame with a wire to the verso ready to hang. Richard Guy (1928-2014) was an illustrator and painter whose work focused on historical sites and landmarks both in and outside of Washington, DC. Guy was particularly interested in the Civil War and was known for his portraits of military figures.
Condition
- toning throughout mat; image loose from mat exposing top of image; ink writing on verso; picture needs to be secured to the back as the adhesive used is wearing thing.
