Hand Colored Engravings "Antiquities of Ireland" and "The Exchange at Limerick"

A set of two hand-colored engravings of Irish landmarks from antique printings of Picturesque Views of the Antiquities of England and Wales and The Curiosities and Beauties of England Displayed, originally published by A. Hogg in the late 18th century. Featured is Antiquities in Ireland, depicting convent ruins, the Kildare round tower, a tumulus and an ancient brass sword. Also featured is The Exchange at Limerick depicting a figure walking in front of the historic Exchange wall. Each print is matted in navy blue and is presented under glass in a gold tone wooden frame fitted with hanging wire to the verso. Each frame backing includes an ‘Authentic Antique Print’ adhesive label that dates the work at 1795.
Condition
- foxing and toning to both prints; small crease to “Antiquities” print at upper right; minor wear to frames.
