Hand-Knotted Persian Abadeh Accent Rug
Item Details
A Persian Abadeh accent rug. This tribal wool rug is hand-knotted in a palette of cranberry, sapphire-gray, and ivory. It features a classic Abadeh design beginning with an ivory and charcoal octagonal shield, enclosed in a gray-sapphire medallion. The medallion rests on a burgundy lozenge, which features two long trees of life surrounded by butterflies, birds, potted plants, boteh, small trees, and a wide variety of florets. These elements are continued in the corners of the rug, each of which also features a smaller iteration of the shield at the rug’s center. The weaver appears to display a sense of humor in having a bird perch on each corner shield. The field is framed by three narrow borders, including meandering florals. Selvedges are overcast, each end finishing withlong, knotted wool warp fringe. Labeled on the reverse.
