A Mid Century Modern Distinctive Furniture desk and chair by Stanley Furniture. The green painted desk has a light colored wood veneer top over two shallow drawers, one of which is long with a faux double front, and two pedestals, each with two graduated depth drawers, on a conforming base. The shallow top drawers have brass knobs, while the pedestal drawers have rectangular plates with center oval cutouts, bent in the center so the bottom half serves as a pull and the top half as an anchor. The chair’s wooden frame is also painted green, and has a rectangular back rest with center hourglass cutout, raised on block stiles that continue to tapering legs. The square seat has a green cushion with green piping, and the tapering block legs are connected with a bar stretcher on either side. The maker’s mark is inside a drawer.
