Wooden Music Boxes from Switzerland Including Reuge
Item Details
A pair of decorative wooden music boxes from Switzerland. The pieces feature matching exteriors with hinged lids that open to reveal metal music cylinders and other mechanisms. The box with an illustration of a young man playing the accordion is listed with ‘3 Airs: Cloches de Corneville – Santa Lucia – William Tell, Prayer – No. 39-117’. It is marked ‘Made in Switzerland’ in the margins of the Alpine drawing and has a turn key at the base. The Reuge item features a decorative border on the lid interior and is marked ‘Reuge – Sainte-Croix – Music Switzerland’. The lid label also reads ‘Menuett – W.A. Mozart’ and ‘Tristesse – F. Chopin’. It is marked to the base with ‘Reuge Swiss Musical Movement’ stickers, one of which reads ‘2 Melodien – 36 Töne’. A metal turn key is present.

- one with shield on lid does not work (3 Airs); scratches and residue throughout.
