An original 1974 signed ink drawing on compressed paperboard by very well-listed American illustrator Sam Norkin (New York, 1917 – 2011), best-known for his theater sketches. The piece is titled Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep. The piece depicts General Leonidas Erosa on a yacht about to indulge in a silver-plattered meal as a woman with a dog, a maid, and chef look on. The piece is signed to the lower right. A description of the piece is attached to the verso, where the work is also, signed, dated, and noted ‘With best wishes to Max from Sam Norkin’ in graphite to the verso. The work is presented without matting or framing, awaiting your choice of presentation. Norkin had thousands of illustrations published in the New York Daily News, New York Herald Tribune, Boston Globe, Washington Post, and countless other publications.
