Framed Intaglio Print of the Madonna

An intaglio print, appearing to be a mezzotint, on paper of the Madonna, believed to be by printmaker Samuel Arlent Edwards (1861-1938). This octagonal piece depicts the figure in blue and red, a peaceful expression on her face. There is an illegible line of text to the piece’s lower margin, and it is mounted under glass in a carved gold tone frame with a wire for hanging.

Condition

- toning to print; tape to verso of frame; wear throughout frame.
