A 1908 Rookwood Pottery Arts & Crafts candlestick by Cecil A. Duell. This piece features a single round sconce on a flared column that rests on a round base. There is linear incised decoration to the exterior, finished in a matte olive green glaze. Duell decorated pieces at Rookwood from 1907 to 1915, known for his use of matte green glazes that embody the Arts & Crafts movement. The underside is stamped with the Rookwood Pottery maker’s mark and ‘VIII’ underneath for 1908, the pattern number ‘822C’, and the artist’s mark ‘C.A.D’.
