Royal Copenhagen Knitting Amager Girl Figurines
Item Details
A pair of Royal Copenhagen knitting Amager girl figurines. The glazed porcelain works depict a young woman and a girl in traditional clothing resembling Dutch style clothing. There was a settlement of the Dutch on the small Danish island of Amager near Copenhagen. The smaller seated piece is marked to the base ‘Royal Copenhagen – Denmark – 1314’ and the painter’s initials. The taller piece is marked ‘1317’ and with different painter’s initials. The green stamp, the mark of three blue waves, and the painters’ upper-case initials date the pieces from 1950 to the present.
