Hand-Knotted Persian Kurdish Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Kurdish area rug. This wool rug is rendered in a palette of periwinkle, cranberry, slate blue, and taupe. It begins with a serrated diamond medallion, which rests on a cranberry-colored indented lozenge, over a periwinkle field. The lozenge and field are filled with latticed diamond shields, each of which is composed of different elements, including geometric sprays of flowers, vases, cruciform shapes, pinwheels, and other motifs. Framing the field are compound borders, including a highly stylized geometric herati main border over slate blue. Selvedges are overcast. Ends finish with wool warp fringe. The rug is unlabeled.
