A hand-knotted Indo-Caucasian area rug. This wool rug is rendered in a variegated palette of vermillion, sapphire, cream, and celadon. It begins with an eight-point star medallion at the center of a vermillion field, which is populated with large-scale palmettes, florets, and stars. The field is framed by three borders, including a primary crab border featuring florets and stars over cream. Selvedges are overcast. Top and bottom finish with short gray wool warp fringe. The rug is unlabeled.
