An original unsigned black and white photograph by listed Cincinnati artist John P. Stewart, an esteemed professor at the University of Cincinnati DAAP school. Stewart’s artworks have been featured at several museums and institutions including the Whitney Museum and the Baltimore Art Museum. The photograph depicts an atmospheric night scene with a woman standing beneath a post pergola in front of a white stucco building with a sedan parked to the right. The film noir piece is displayed under clear acrylic in a white mat and black metal frame. John Stewart earned a BFA from the University of Colorado and a MFA from University of California in Santa Barbara. He began his teaching career at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro, and finished his teaching career at the University of Cincinnati where he started in 1973. His work is widely collected and exhibited with pieces in the collections of the Corcoran Gallery of Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art among others.
