Arman 1979 Limited Edition Serigraph "Hydra"
Item Details
By Hand
A 1979 limited edition serigraph on rag paper with deckled edges titled Hydra by French Dadaist, Armand Pierre Arman, known as simply Arman (New York/California/France/Italy; 1928 – 2005). This serigraph depicts a series of wrench prints in silver and blue arranged in an arching cascade. The juxtaposition of the metallic silver ink against the flat blue ink creates an interesting visual contrast. The artist is known for his works of art which present objects in seemingly endless echoing forms. This print is signed and numbered 24/150 by hand in graphite to the lower margin. To the verso, stamped Copyright Denis Smith 1979.
Arman’s works can be found in the permanent collections of reputed museums worldwide, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Tate Gallery in London, and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
