A pair of carved wood Hamsa Hand sculptures. The pair each feature an open palm, one with the symbol of an ‘evil eye’ to the middle and the other with the symbol of a heart to the middle. They both rest on rectangular wood bases. The Hamsa hand is a common symbol throughout the Middle East and Northern Africa, and has been interpreted as a Jewish, Islamic and Christian amulet and is an important symbol in Jewish and Islamic artwork.

Condition

- paint and discoloration noted to the back of the hands; sawdust noted; chipped and worn finish to the base
