Hamilton Type Drawer

A wooden Hamilton typesetter’s drawer. Designed to hold metal type, this large vintage drawer hangs by attached hooks. The drawer pull is embossed “Hamilton”. J. Edward Hamilton founded the company in 1880. By the turn of the century, it had become the largest manufacturer of wooden type in the United States. The company also made type cabinets and other furniture for press rooms.
