Chinese Zodiac Carving With Carved Cork Diorama

A Chinese zodiac sculpture and carved cork diorama. The zodiac sculpture, known as Sheng Xiao, is based on the twelve-year cycle with each year represented by an animal. All twelve are featured, with the rat being the most prominent. Other animals include a horse, dragon, snake, ox, pig, rooster, dog, sheep, tiger, rabbit, and monkey. It appears to be made of resin with a hand-rubbed deep red finish. A sticker to the verso reads, “ Yong Kee / NYNY / Made in China”. This listing also includes a Chinese carved cork diorama featuring a pavilion, a raised walkway, trees, and wading birds. It is encased behind glass that is held in a black oval frame with a raised base.
