Item Details

A ceramic phrenology bust after L.N. Fowler. This piece is modeled after 19th-century phrenology busts, which was a pseudoscience that proposed a person’s character and personality could be determined by the shape of their skull. The quadrants of the skull corresponded with intellectual or reflecting faculties, lower or higher sentiments, and propensities. This human bust is white and features blue trim and black text.
