Peter Keil Original 1990 Neo-Expressionist Oil Painting on Board "Andy Warhol"

Item Details

An original large 1990 oil painting on composite board by well-listed German Neo-Expressionist painter Peter Robert Keil (born 1942), titled Andy Warhol. The piece depicts a vertical portrait of the famed American Pop Artist. He is painted in vivid fields of color accented by thick, black outlines, and a long cigarette hangs lazily from the artist’s lips. The painting is signed, dated, and titled in black paint to the lower corners. This work is unframed, awaiting presentation of choice. A certificate of authenticity with a printed signature is attached to the verso.

Influenced by German Expressionism and graffiti elements, Keil is known for his simplified abstractions of traditional art subjects. He studied under Otto Nagel at a young age and developed relationships with other renowned artists such as Joan Miro. As Keil abandoned realism and developed his signature style, he used more vibrant colors rapidly applied with large gestural brushstrokes resembling the abstract style of Picasso.

Condition
