Mark Coomer Serigraphs of Architecture Featuring New Orleans

Item Details

In Plate

An assortment of serigraphs of historic American buildings and figures on board by listed artist Mark Coomer (1914-2004). This group of ten prints features depictions of houses, street views, and entryways into buildings. Highlighted are prints from New Orleans titled Brulator Court and Patio on St. Peter St. . Also included are prints featuring a city skyline, a covered bridge, and a hotel in a tropical locale. All pieces are signed in print to a lower corner and are presented without frames or hanging hardware.

Born in Bay City, Michigan, Mark Coomer studied art in Chicago and Detroit before eventually settling in Arizona. He is known for his paintings and serigraphs, often depicting street patioscapes and urban city scenes. Coomer did almost all of his own printing, limiting his editions to 100. His preferred ground for his prints was masonite board, which combined with the permanent nature of his oil-based inks, were advertised as “washable”. Coomer exhibited his paintings and limited edition serigraphs nationally, and many can be found in private collections and institutions including the Chicago Art Institute; Challis Galleries, Laguna Beach, California; and The West and Walter-Bimson Western Art Collection housed at the University of Arizona Museum of Art.
