Mark Coomer Serigraphs of New York Skylines and Architecture

Item Details

In Plate

An assortment of serigraphs of New York City architecture on board by listed artist Mark Coomer (1914-2004). This group of six prints includes scenes of the Empire State Building, Washington Square Park, and different skyline views. Also included is a print of a city town home and on of a view down Chicago’s Wacker Drive. All pieces are signed in print to a lower corner and are presented without frames or hanging hardware.

Born in Bay City, Michigan, Mark Coomer studied art in Chicago and Detroit before eventually settling in Arizona. He is known for his paintings and serigraphs, often depicting street patioscapes and urban city scenes. Coomer did almost all of his own printing, limiting his editions to 100. His preferred ground for his prints was masonite board, which combined with the permanent nature of his oil-based inks, were advertised as “washable”. Coomer exhibited his paintings and limited edition serigraphs nationally, and many can be found in private collections and institutions including the Chicago Art Institute; Challis Galleries, Laguna Beach, California; and The West and Walter-Bimson Western Art Collection housed at the University of Arizona Museum of Art.
