Mark Coomer Serigraph Prints Featuring Modern Architecture

Item Details

In Plate

An assortment of serigraphs on board of modern architecture by listed artist Mark Coomer (1914-2004). This group of nine prints includes images of a bridge in Central Park and the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City, and of figures walking past shotgun and town houses in modern day cities. All prints are signed in print to a lower corner and are presented without frames or hanging hardware.

Born in Bay City, Michigan, Mark Coomer studied art in Chicago and Detroit before eventually settling in Arizona. He is known for his paintings and serigraphs, often depicting street patioscapes and urban city scenes. Coomer did almost all of his own printing, limiting his editions to 100. His preferred ground for his prints was masonite board, which combined with the permanent nature of his oil-based inks, were advertised as “washable”. Coomer exhibited his paintings and limited edition serigraphs nationally, and many can be found in private collections and institutions including the Chicago Art Institute; Challis Galleries, Laguna Beach, California; and The West and Walter-Bimson Western Art Collection housed at the University of Arizona Museum of Art.
