Item Details
An assortment of three East Asian style pieces of fine art including a woodblock print by American artist Helen Hyde (1868 – 1919), a gouache painting of a child holding a lantern, and an offset lithograph of a woman pouring water into a bowl. The woodcut depicts a mother lovingly holding her swaddled baby, in an ovular composition with a view of the outdoors behind the figures. It is signed in pencil to the right and in plate to the lower left, and dated 1908. The painting is signed in paint, appearing to read ‘V. Chandley’, and the reproduction print is signed illegibly in plate to the lower right. These pieces are presented under glass in wood frames with hanging hardware to the versos.
Condition
- minor markings, scratches and wear to frames throughout; chip to upper right of frame of woodblock print; glass could be cleaned more thoroughly; foxing and toning to woodblock print.
