Silk
A Chinese watercolor painting on silk of a landscape titled To Cross the Countryside (鄉渡). This painting depicts a loose rendering of a rocky, tiered mountain with a sloped hillside obscuring pagoda-like structures to the distance. To the foreground is a lone gondola gliding across a calm expanse of water. The composition is rendered with cool pools of pigment reinforced with black splotched brush strokes. The work is titled and dated May 10, 1976 (一九七六年五月十日) alongside an inscription that indicates the location as Yangchun, Guangdong province (廣東陽春). The painting is presented under glass in a gold tone metal frame with a black linen liner and hanging wire to the verso.
