Item Details
A semi-antique Persian Mehriban area rug. This wool rug features a mirrored Sarouk-style vase design beginning with four palmettes at the center of a merlot-colored field, the palmettes wrapped in sprays of flowers and leaves. The remainder of the field is filled with weeping willows, junipers, vase-like palmettes, and numerous floral sprays and ferns. The palette is merlot, camel, midnight blue, sapphire, pink, and mint. Framing the field are three borders, including a stylized herati primary border over midnight blue and meandering floral minor borders over camel. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
