A power-loomed Bird of Paradise carpet runner by MJ Whittall. This Art Nouveau-style, fine wool rug features panels that repeat an East Asian-inspired vignette incorporating a bird of paradise in flight amid a flowering tree, hibiscus blooms, and lotus blooms on water, over a cream-colored background. The palette is cream, black, apricot, blush, lilac, pink, and celadon. The field is framed by a border featuring images of hibiscus and other tropical flowers, sea waves, and abstract elements over black. Selvedges are bound; fringe at ends has been shorn away. ’Whittall’s’ is printed on the underside.
