Rookwood Pottery Bird Collection

Item Details

A Rookwood Pottery bird collection. Included are a 1926 pair of bookends in the form of birds with leaves and acorns at their feet. Each is marked to the underside with pattern No. 2829 and dated XXV. Also included are two canary paperweights featuring plump birds resting on rectangular bases. The turquoise bird is dated “XLVI” (1946) and the lime green is dated XIV (1944). Each has the pattern No. 6383. All pieces have the hallmark Rookwood flame and an incised X denoting a factory second.

Condition

- marked as seconds with an incised X.
- chips and uneven underglaze is evident.
- small birds have broken but repaired tails.
