A vintage original unsigned oil on canvas with a depiction of Jesus’s crucifixion. The evocative work is in dark shades of brown, red and dark blue, with an atmospheric ambience conveyed by a a dark swirling sky crossed by a lightning bolt, and featuring to the center, the anguished body of Christ crucified upon a dark wood cross with proclamation in Old Latin tacked to the top. The pain-filled face of Christ is highlighted by his eyes lifted to the heavens, with a glowing corona emanating behind the Crown of Thorns. The background shows the Mount with temple and to the mid ground, fleeing figures accompanied by a dog. The painting is displayed in a dark wood frame with gilded border. Wired to the verso for hanging.
