A collection of four books published between 1978 and 1984 as part of the Franklin Library’s 100 Greatest Masterpieces of American Literature series. These limited edition books are bound in full leather with raised bands, gilt page edges and gilt cover decoration; this collection also includes ‘Notes from the Editors’ booklets for both the Adams titles. The books in this collection are Mont-Saint-Michel and Chartres and The Education of Henry Adams by Henry Adams, and The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin and The Prefaces, Proverbs and Poems from Poor Richard’s Almanacks for 1733–1758 by Benjamin Franklin.
