A set of three unframed prints on paper and one drawing. Featured is a movie poster advertising the 1930 film titled The Dawn Patrol, starring Richard Barthelmess and Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. as WWI-era pilots. The print includes colorful offset lithograph imagery depicting the film’s battle scenes. It includes a notation to the lower margin of ‘Portal Publications, The Michael Shaw Collection, 1930’. Also featured is a circa 1980s offset lithograph print after a 1945 painting by listed French-American artist Yves Tanguy (1900 – 1955). The piece, titled The Rapidity of Sleep, depicts abstract red and white figural shapes set against a stark grey and blue landscape. The image is signed in plate to the lower right, with additional printed notations to the lower margin that include artist name, work title and printing information of ‘The Art Institute of Chicago, Joseph Winterbotham Collection, Artistic Picture Publishing, Printed in the Netherlands by Joh. Enschedé en Zonen’. Other items in the set include a vintage poster depicting a 1966 Shelby GT-350.
