Hand-Knotted Persian Area Rug

Item Details

A hand-knotted Persian area rug, attributed to Tabiz weavers. This wool rug is rendered in cream, taupe, and several shades of blue, with burgundy highlights. It features a round medallion with palmette spokes over a cream-colored field. Surrounding the medallion are palmettes, lotus blooms, leaves, vines, and flowers. The field is framed by compound borders, including a herati main border grounded in ivory, with cerulean vine work. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with ivory cotton warp fringe. It is labeled on the reverse.
