An original signed drypoint etching on paper by listed artist Alphonse Legros (France, England, 1837-1911) titled Portrait of E.J. Poynter. The work depicts the artist E.J. Poynter, a distinguished gentleman, with parted hair, trimmed mustache and beard, aquiline nose and deeply intense gaze. The artist is looking over his right shoulder, his figure set against a finely etched horizontal linear background, with his jacket vignetted to a white mass. The piece is signed to the plate at the lower left margin. Displayed under glass in an off white mat and gilded beaded frame. Wired to the verso for hanging.
