Kenney Mencher Original Oil on Canvas

Item Details

An original signed oil on canvas by listed artist Kenney Mencher (American, 1965-). The 1994 work depicts a dark-haired woman with an unexpressive demeanor, dressed in a loose black dress with V-neck, seated with barefoot with spread legs on a green ottoman, with a draped coral curtain to the left and neutral background with pale gray floor. The painting’s subject is a fit with Mencher’s oeuvre with his depictions of ambiguous scenes with common themes of incompleted acts, or personal drama shown thematically in a film noir approach with sequential narratives. The work is signed and dated to the lower right corner, and displayed in a gilded wooden frame wired to the back for hanging. Mencher earned a master’s in art history from University of California, Davis and a MFA from the University of Cincinnati. His work is widely exhibited and collected with installations at Octavia’s Haze Gallery and at Varnish Fine Art in San Francisco, at the Los Gatos Art Museum, at the Triton Museum of Art in Santa Clara, California, in the ‘Lucky Seven’ group show at the Dahlia Woods Gallery in Dallas, and at Amrithika Gallery in Palo Alto, along with a show ArtHaus in San Francisco, which was reviewed in ARTWORKS Magazine and American Artist. Additional information on the artist is included in the link.
