A large signed, hand-knotted Persian pictorial area rug. This rug features a large floral and foliate central medallion in bright blues, pinks, sienna and taupe on a saturated scarlet red field, surrounded by images of deer and large birds, with decorative spandrels and a wide floral border in the field colors on a contrasting ivory field. It has overcast edges with dense, soft cotton warp fringe to the ends. Labeled ‘Made in Iran’ to the underside, and signed in weave in the field, appearing to read ‘Made in Iran.’
